However, cracking this paper is not an easy task. Even the toppers of board exams are sometimes unable to crack it. This is because the preparation requires 100% dedication and smart work. The students who start preparing for the exam should first of all check out the previous year paper.
The reason why this is important for them to do so is that reading and analysing the previous year paper will help them to figure out various things, such as-
- Paper Pattern-Yes, there are high chances of changes in the paper pattern, but the majority of the paper pattern remains the same, such as the sections of the paper, the time duration, etc.
- Type of questions- Once the students have the knowledge of as to what type of questions they can expect in the paper, it will help them to select the study sources.
- Time management- After going through the whole paper, the students will get a sense of how they would have to manage their time. For instance, they will be able to identify the sections for which they would require more time than the others. This would be possible even if they don’t actually solve the paper (which ideally they should solve).
- Difficulty level- It is not a guarantee that every year the difficulty level of the paper will be the same. It is highly possible that if the previous year, the paper was difficult, then this it may turn out to be moderately difficult.
- Language- The students have an option to give the exam either in Hindi or in English. So, if the student is fluent in both and has gone through the previous year, he/she will be able to decide the language they are more comfortable with to attempt the exam.
- Computer-based Test-Since the JEE Advanced exam is only conducted in the Computer-based Test mode, checking out the past year paper will help them to prepare for online mode too.
