JEE Advanced Selection Process

JEE Advanced is the second and final stage of the JEE or Joint Entrance Exam. The exam is conducted specifically for the admissions into undergraduate courses offered by India’s Top ranking institutes- IITs and NITs. And, since the exam is conducted for such prestigious institutes, it is obvious that their selection process will be hardcore.

JEE Advanced 2018 Eligibility Criteria 

First of all, the only students that are allowed to appear for the JEE Advanced 2018 exam are the once who have appeared for JEE Main 2018 for the first time and have then qualified for JEE Advanced. Moreover, students who have given their board exams in 2017-2018 for the first time are the once who are allowed to appear for the exam.

Secondly, the students who are allowed to appear for the exam should have either-

• Have secured 75% in their board exams. ( For general, the required aggregate is 75% and that for OBC/ SC / ST is 70%) or,
• Have secured themselves a spot in the recognized list of top 20 percentile for each category in the board exam.

Last but not the least, while filling up the application process, the students need to keep DOB eligibility in their mind. The general student who can apply should be born on or after October 1, 1993. Whereas, for the reserved category, the student should be born on or after October 1, 1988.

RANKING PROCEDURE

The JEE Advanced 2018 ranks will be realised along with the result on 10^th June 2018 at 10:00 AM. The students who had appeared in both papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2 of JEE Advanced will be the only students who will be considered for ranking. This is because the marks obtained in both these papers will be combined and calculated for figuring out a student’s rank. As per last year, the minimum percentage of marks for each category, which were included in the rank list were:

As soon as the ranking lists are issued, the cut-off lists too will be out. The students have to keep in mind that these are the minimum score which is required by them to crack the exam. However, the cut-off score for each institute will be different and will be issued in the manner of opening and closing rank.

COUNSELLING &SEAT ALLOTMENT

Once the result is announced, the committee will start with the JEE Advanced Counselling sessions from the 19^th June 2018. This process is handled by JoSAA. This whole process is divided into various stages like registration, choice filling and locking, seat allotment and acceptance, and finally reporting to the allotted college for document verification and provisional admission. If everything goes smoothly, then that student’s admission is confirmed.
