IIT JEE Main exam was held on 2nd April 2017 (Sunday) in offline mode. Around 12 lakh students appeared for this exam in online as well as offline mode. As the exam pattern paper was divided into two parts paper 1 for engineering aspirants and paper 2 for B.Arch./B.Planning.

The exam pattern was similar as of last year. The question paper was divided into three sections: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- Exam duration was 3hour.
- A total number of questions was 90.
- Maximum marks were 360
- All the questions were objective type.
- No mistake was reported in the question paper.
- 4 marks or each correct answer and negative 1 mark for each incorrect answer.

Quick Exam Analysis of IIT JEE Main 2017
The paper pattern for IIT JEE Main 2017 was similar to the previous year paper. In the analysis expert found the difficulty level of the paper was from easy to moderate.For the students who had coaching and had determined studies throughout the year would have found paper easier as compared to others. Equal weightage was given to class 11th and class 12th syllabus. The weightage is shown as below:

Subject wise Analysis of IIT JEE Main 2017:
Chemistry
Chemistry paper was easiest of them all. It was easy to score high in chemistry as the questions asked were straightforward and Conceptual rather than memory based. Chemistry paper was more balanced in term of no of the question asked from every topic physical, organic and inorganic chemistry. No question was asked from sates of Matter, Chemistry in everyday life.
Mathematics
Mathematics was considered the toughest section from all because the questions were lengthy and of calculative part so it was difficult to score high in mathematics. Although the paper was easier than the last year but was lengthy. More weightage was given to class 12th syllabus. Maximum number of questions were asked from algebra. Few of the questions were straight forward. Questions were a little tricky and need JEE advanced level approach to solve the paper. Students who confined their preparation to NCERT could have found the paper little difficult.
Physics
The difficulty level of physics was also moderate. Students find physics paper easier than the previous year paper.There was no surprise element for the students in this section.All the topic were covered all that were prescribed in IIT JEE Main syllabus. Most of the questions were calculative rather than the theory based. More weightage was given to class 12th syllabus. Maximum questions were asked form mechanics and electrodynamics.
Expected Cut OFF:
The expected cutoff is between 100 to 105.
