Every year whenever the new batch of students to decide to appear for the JEE Main exam, they make it a point to check out the previous year question paper. They do this because once they go through that paper, they get a sense of what type of questions they can expect in the exam. Also, it helps them to get an idea of marking scheme, duration, difficulty level and other such details.
The table below informs the students about the general guidelines for both modes of the exam. It is important for the students to carefully read and strictly follow them in the exam.
JEE Main 2018 Guidelines for Pen & Paper Mode | JEE Main 2018 Guidelines for Computer Based Test Mode |
Students should only use black ballpoint pen provided in the exam hall to fill in particulars and to mark their answers. | Students will be provided ball pens in the examination hall to do rough work. |
Students appearing in Paper 2 must bring their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons. | Students must sign on the Attendance Sheet when asked. |
After completion of the exam, studentsneed hand over the answer sheet to the Invigilator presenton duty in the Room/Hall | A mock test will be available online in the month of December. Students should take that test to familiarise with the CBT mode |
Students can carry along with them a cardboard or a clipboard. However, nothing should be written on it | Any and all the calculations/writing work should be done only on the rough sheet provided at the centre. Students need to hand over their rough sheets to the invigilator after the completion of the test. |
Plus since the JEE Main exam is held in two modes, online and offline, the previous year paper helps them to figure out as to what mode of the exam would they be comfortable with. Therefore, it is beneficial for the students to read and practice the previous year paper. So, all the students should check the previous year paper, in case they have already not done so.
