In India, almost everyone above the age of 11-12 years knows what IIT is. They know that it is one of the best engineering institutions that are present in the world. Every year more than 5 lac students choose the engineering field with a hope of pursuing their undergraduate engineering degrees from one the IITs. Located in Hauz Khas in South Delhi, IIT Delhi was formally established in 1961. At the time of its establishment, it was named as the College of Engineering and Technology and gained the tag of IIT in 1963. This huge growth in the reputation of this college is itself a testament to its dedication towards the scientific and technical education and research. Apart from top class in the academic field, the college is also famous for being located at such a place that it’s surrounded by the some of the significant historical monument of Delhi.

IIT Kharagpur was established in 1951 and is the first institute of IIT. It started its journey in the old Hijli Detention Camp where some of the great freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence. So, IIT Kharagpur is one of those rare institutes that started in the prison house. What is fascinating is that even after having such a start, the institutes have developed and has about 18 academic departments with about 550 faculties, 1700 employees and 9000 students on the campus.

Located near the Kalyanpur village in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. IIT Kanpur was established in 1959. Since its establishment, the college has dedicated itself to provide guidance to the youngsters of every generation, so that they are able to disseminate their knowledge in engineering, science and allied disciplines in a way that is best for the society. One of the most recent examples of this mission is the National Air Quality Index. This project was one of the biggest projects that were ever undertaken by The Ministry of Environment.
