BITSAT 2020 Exam Pattern
The BITSAT exam pattern is based on the Multiple Choice Questions or MCQ’s. BITSAT is a computer based test and is based on the NCERT syllabus. The exam tests for the candidates grip on the concepts taught in Class XI and Class XII. Hence, conceptual clarity regarding Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology is the core component in scoring optimally in BITSAT 2020. Proficiency in the English language is also very much a necessity, as BITSAT 2020 will be conducted only in English.
There will be a total of 150 questions distributed across four sections of the exam. Total marks which can be scored is 450. All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice. Thus for each correct answer, the student will be awarded three marks whereas for the wrong answer, there is a provision for deduction of one mark.
No marks are awarded for unattempted questions. While the candidate can skip a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as the correct one.
CLEAR EXAM presents BITSAT pattern 2020:
Type | Computer based online test |
Duration | 3 hours |
Total Number of questions | 150 |
Total marks | 450 |
Marks for each right answer | +3 |
Deduction for each wrong answer | -1 |
Division of questions as per the subjects:
Part | Subject | Number of Questions |
I | Physics | 40 |
II | Chemistry | 40 |
III (a) | English Proficiency | 15 |
III(b) | Logical reasoning | 10 |
IV | Maths\Biology | 45 |
Total | 150 |
If a candidate answers all the 150 questions, without skipping any question and if there is still some time left, then the candidate will have the option of attempting 12 extra questions.
These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology only; four questions from each part. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, they cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 150 questions. The questions are so designed that a good student will be able to answer 150 questions in 180 minutes. A maximum of 12 extra questions will give aspirants a chance to score higher. Candidates, however, should keep in mind the fact that there is negative marking for wrong answers.
