How to calculate percentage of 12th Board CBSE?
Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) conducts board examinations for 10th and 12th standard every year. There are 5 subjects in the 12th Board examination. The subject choices have Maths, Physics, English and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. The other subject is optional and students are provided with several choices for the same. This is for the science students. For commerce students Business Studies, Accountancy, Economics and English are compulsory subjects. Physical Education, Mathematics, Informatic practises, Legal Studies, Entrepreneurship and Regional language are the choices given for the last subject.

Now every Subject has bifurcation of Theory and Practical Marks:
Maths, Physics, English and Chemistry all these subjects will have a 70/30 bifurcation of Theory and practical marks respectively. 70 marks paper is set for the student in the theory phase of the examination. The remaining practical part is conducted in their respective schools itself. These marks are displayed separately by the CBSE board while declaring the final result. In order to calculate the total marks one needs to add all the marks first of a particular subject and then total the mark of all the subjects.
Now let us assume that a student has secured a the following marks in the all the 5 subjects chosen by the student:
91, 82, 54, 66, 88
Now for calculating the percentage of this student one would have to add the marks of the students:
91 + 82 + 54 + 66 + 88 = 381
Therefore the student has secured 381 marks in total out of 500 marks. So now the student’s marks should be divided by 500 and then multiplied by 100.
381/500 = 0.762
0.762*100 = 76.2
Hence the student has scored 76.2 percentage marks in the 12th board examination. This is how the percentages of all the students are calculated.
