JEE Main 2020 (April): Exam Pattern
JEE Main 2020 (April) is a Computer based test, of three hours with National Testing Agency (NTA) being its conducting body. The exam will take place on April 5, April 7, April 8, April 9 and April 11.
Application forms for the same were released on February 7, 2020 on the official website of JEE Main: jeemain.nta.nic.in. CLEAR EXAM shares the details of JEE Main exam pattern 2020 for the B Tech, B Arch and B Plan in this article.
Numerical questions were introduced where the correct answers had to be typed with accuracy upto two decimal points. The numerical questions will have no negative marking. This fact has been backed up by the aspirants of JEE Main 2020 (January) session.

JEE Main 2020 (April) Exam Pattern: Paper I
Paper I under the JEE Main pattern 2020 is online. The paper is three hours and consists of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. There are 75 questions in all, 25 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
In recent years, JEE Main exam pattern 20 objective questions and five numericals. The objective questions have four options. Of which, only one is correct. Aspirants are awarded four marks for every correct answer while one mark is deducted for every incorrect response.
In the numerical questions, an aspirant will be awarded with four marks for every correct response and no deduction will be there for wrong answer.
The Paper I of JEE Main 2020 (April) is of a maximum of 300 marks. The medium of the question paper can be chosen amongst English, Hindi or Gujarati.

JEE Main 2020 (April) Exam Pattern: Paper II
B Arch:
The mode of exam of the Paper II of the B Plan under the JEE Main exam pattern is different for different subjects. Mathematics and Aptitude section of B Arch will be Computer based. The Drawing section will be in pen and paper mode. Mathematics will have 20 MCQ questions and 5 numericals while Aptitude will have 50 MCQs and drawing test will have 2 questions. Whole paper comprises 400 marks. An aspirant can choose the medium of language amongst English, Hindi or Gujarati.
B Plan:
Mode of exam of the Paper II of B Plan under JEE Main pattern 2020 is online. Paper is three hours and consists of questions from Planning, General Aptitude and Mathematics. Mathematics has 20 MCQ questions and 5 numericals; Aptitude has 50 MCQs and Planning section has 25 questions. Planning section will also include a written passage. Whole paper comprises 400 marks. Aspirants can choose the medium of language amongst English, Hindi or Gujarati.

Q: What are numericals in JEE Main?
A: Numerical questions have a numerical value as an answer and these have to be generally accurate to the point of 4 decimals in most exams. Unlike multiple choice questions, these answers need to be worked and calculated by students and the numerical value input using the mouse and the onscreen virtual numeric keypad that is given in the test on the screen.
